A medium-length film to remember, in the year in which the city celebrates 1600 years since its mythical foundation in 421, how the glory of Venice and St. Mark was founded on its domains of land and sea, but also on its ability to be a crossroads of cultures. The protagonists are about sixty reenactors in historical dress, with an off-screen narrator who tells the story of Venice in all its aspects. The video, in Italian with English subtitles, covers various topics that trace the genesis of the city, its complex dynamics but also social aspects: how, for example, the paleo Venetians came from the mainland to the lagoon, the Serenissima Republic of travel and merchants, the women protagonists of Venetian history between the Middle Ages and the eighteenth century, the Venetian magistracy, the courtesans and the cicisbei, the Carnival of Venice between history and myth, but also how Venice fought the plague until the decadence and the end of the Republic…
